St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic School Safety Patrol
St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic School Student Council At St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic School, we believe in nurturing leadership skills, cultivating a spirit of service, and encouraging academic excellence for all our students. Our Student Council provides a fantastic opportunity for middle schoolers to develop and demonstrate leadership through collaborative projects, representing their peers, and living out our Schoolwide Learning Expectations of Service, Virtue, Faith, and Scholarship.
Fostering Leadership & Responsibility
Upholding School Values: Safety Patrol members embody our Catholic mission by modeling respect, cooperation, and pride in our school.
Promoting Safety: Patrollers guide fellow students during arrival and dismissal, reinforcing road-safety practices (directing children, not traffic). They act as role models in behavior, punctuality, and conduct both on and off campus.
- Building Character: Through clear expectations for academic performance, attendance, and conduct, Safety Patrol provides students the chance to practice accountability, stewardship, and consistent leadership.
What it Means to Serve
- Commitment: Each member serves for one school year, attending regular patrol meetings and fulfilling assigned duties with diligence and care.
- High Standards: Patrol members must maintain good grades and behavior in accordance with the school’s Extracurricular Probation Policy. Exemplary citizenship is expected, and failure to meet these standards results in removal or ineligibility.
- Teamwork & Collaboration: Patrollers share ideas and concerns at scheduled meetings, working closely with faculty sponsors to foster a secure campus for everyone.
Why Join the Safety Patrol?
- Leadership Experience: Serving on Student Council allows students to gain valuable leadership and communication skills.
- Teamwork & Collaboration: Members work together on school events, fundraisers, and other activities that foster teamwork and cooperative problem-solving.
- Service & Faith: By organizing service projects and promoting our Catholic values, Student Council members actively live out the ideals of service, virtue, and faith.
- Academic & Personal Growth: Through meeting deadlines, delivering speeches, and balancing responsibilities, students develop strong study habits and accountability-strengthening their commitment to scholarship.
Our Safety Patrol proudly reflects the values we hold dear at St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic School: faith, service, scholarship, and leadership. By embracing these values and working for the common good, our patrollers showcase the very best of our school community.
Election Process at a Glance Each spring, our middle school students embark on a purposeful journey to join the Student Council by completing an application, submitting a by-law agreement and filing fee, and creating a short campaign with limited, student-made posters. To uphold fairness, candidates avoid media campaigning or handing out gifts, focusing instead on presenting their ideas through prepared speeches. On Election Day, students cast their votes-often online-and results are announced soon after, marking the start of a new chapter in student leadership. Available Positions & Requirements Our Student Council offers 13 different positions for middle school students, ranging from top leadership roles to specialized commissioner and support roles. Collectively, these student leaders organize fundraisers, manage communications, promote school spirit, oversee safety and ecology initiatives, and encourage faith-filled campus life.
